Hij werd ook wel Pieter Paul, Pieter Pauwel of Petrus Paulus genoemd.<br>De stijl van Rubens behoort tot de Antwerpse School uit de vroege 17e eeuw. Rubens' oeuvre wordt gekenmerkt door de triomfalistische contrareformatorische barok.
